Webinar Session (Tele-Learning mode) on “Development of Agriculture in Pakistan: Issues and Challenges”

Prof. Dr. Usman Mustafa, Senior Consultant, PEPRI delivered a webinar session on Development of Agriculture in Pakistan: Issues and Challenges on June 11, 2020 at 09:00 to 10:30 am of National Institute of Management (NIM), Peshawar. Seminar highlighted Pakistan’s economy and agriculture share in GDP. Agriculture contributions to labor force and export are very high. The sector management, performance, productivity, etc were discussed. Agriculture enhancement strategies (role of agri research; policy interventions; use of technology and innovation; and impact of support price and subsidies) discussed. Leading issues & challenges in crop, livestock, forestry and fisheries sectors (inputs; infrastructure; regulatory framework; output; markets; research and extension) were also discussed. Value addition in agricultural produce, export potential, and role of corporate sector in agricultural development in Pakistan were talked about. Agriculture and rural development its linkages between rural farm and non-farm activities were painted.
